Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a Principal Engineer Test to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Responsibilities:

Designs, develops, and implements testing methods for Cryocooler Manufacturing and Production. Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Document and disposition hardware discrepancies and pursuing root cause and corrective actions. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline plus 5 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 3 years of engineering experience OR PhD Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 0 years of engineering experience

  • Experience with Integration and Test campaigns

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

  • Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Solumina

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of spacecraft production processes and procedures

  • Experience with cross-functional teams and working in an Agile environment

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance


Salary Range: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
