Northrop Grumman in Azusa, CA is seeking a Ground COMMS-Hardware Staff Engineer Systems (Level-5) to join our qualified, diverse team at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA. We are seeking someone that has the ability to report on-site daily. We can accommodate some partial telework but this is dependent upon business/program/team need.

You will support a small team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for the ground segment of a new satellite system. In this role, you will be interacting with the customer and PGSD leadership to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to develop the requirements and models necessary to guide stakeholders & sub-contractors in acquisition & installation of this ground equipment.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Provide regular status to NGP program leadership
• Lead Key Customer Reviews (eg, SRR, PDR, CDR, etc)

• Manage Issues/Actions/Risks uncovered during Workings Groups
• Lead the coordination with Test Set Team in defining & selling-off Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
• Lead the coordinating with Sub-contractors for Hardware & CDRL Deliveries
• Oversee and track cost activities and provide cost analysis to NGP program leadership
• Developing & verifying functional & interface requirements
• Generating, coordinating & baselining Unit Specs & their Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
• Creating AC & DC electrical & RF & Digital signal flow & I/O diagrams
• Calculating RF signal loss & RF satellite link budgets
• Lead coordination between stakeholders to understand & implement end-user system mission needs

Basic Qualifications for Ground COMMS-Hardware Staff Engineer Systems (Level-5):


• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 14 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 12+ years of related engineering experience, or a PhD with 9+ Years of related engineering experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance (US Citizenship Required)
• Working knowledge of requirements development and Verification Cross-Reference Matrices (VCRMs)
• Familiarity AC & DC electrical & RF & Digital signal flow & I/O diagrams
• Leadership of hardware engineers and regularly brief NGP program management
• Experience with coordinating across IPTs and Contracts
• Experience in cost account management and providing earned value metrics analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
• Active DoD Clearance
• Familiarity with MS-Office, DOORS
• Experience with MODEMs and Front-End Processors (FEPs)
• Exposure to LabView (ATE Test SW)
• Familiarity with AC & DC power systems
• Experience with S- and K-band SATCOM Ground Stations
• Experience with ATE Racks
• Experience with RF signal loss & RF satellite link budgets
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML & Cameo, Jira & Agile Processes


Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
