The Space Systems Engineering Section Manager – Launch Systems Integration is a dual-hat Engineering Manager responsible for both section management (up to 20% of time) and existing program responsibilities (80% or more of time). Along with reporting into a program, the Section Manager is also a member of the Space Systems Engineering functional management organization.  The Launch Systems Integration Section Manager shall be the functional management point of contact at the work site for the Space Vehicle Design and Integration (SVDI) Department and will support and implement activities supporting Space Systems initiatives, reporting directly to the SVDI Department Manager. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring members have sufficient statement of work, balancing resources among programs, and verifying proper charging practices are followed, including time-card approval
  • Managing member performance, creating and delivering performance evaluations, overseeing the salary review process, and supervising employee development and mentoring efforts (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
  • Coordinating with programs to ensure appropriate staffing/destaffing actions are developed and executed relative to their section, and managing employee movement between programs
  • Program review and proposal support of Space Vehicle Design and Integration-related SOW
  • Meeting indirect budget targets and interpreting higher level guidance for implementation within the organization for process implementation and improvement.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 7+ years of engineering experience OR
  • Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Current full time program assignment at the Redondo Beach, California location.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering and/or requirements & verification 
  • Active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR an active clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS in Systems Engineering, Technical Management, or related fields
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Previous Launch Systems Integration experience.
  • Proactive leadership skills, demonstrated communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to effectively interface with other Engineering and Production disciplines across the Sector, as well as Programs, Business Development, HR, Mission Assurance, etc.

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
