The Aerosciences Wind Tunnel Test Team (ATT) in Redondo Beach, CA is looking for a qualified Aerosciences Test Engineering Manager to lead a team of Wind Tunnel Model Design and Test engineers. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with elevated expectations, be result oriented and be capable of overseeing multiple unique Test Set-up and Test Execution. The ATT designs models, coordinates their fabrication, and executes tests at our on-site wind tunnels as well as offsite contractor or government-owned wind tunnels.
  
The ideal candidate will apply their test, mechanical, and leadership skills in a dynamic environment. Qualified individuals will collaborate with various disciplines and all levels of personnel throughout all phases of Wind Tunnel Testing, IE: Test Planning, Hardware and Instrumentation design, procurement and or manufacturing, Test set-up, Test Execution, Data Reduction and Test Report Preparation and presentation. Candidate must have Test experience and an extensive understanding of the hardware and methodology employed during a large variety of different testing environments and scenarios. 
  
The ideal candidate must be a motivated, driven individual with excellent communication skills and possess the ability to lead, mentor, and motivate their team of engineers. 
Responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

  •   General understanding of and experience with Wind Tunnel Testing

  •   Understanding and implementation of effective budget and schedule roadmap planning and management in support of efficient project execution

  •   nterpret and fulfill Test Requirements and author/publish/review Test Procedures, requirements documents, etc.

  •   Develop/Lead/Contribute to Readiness/Design Reviews, Customer Briefings, Scheduling & Budgeting Plans, etc.  

  •  Test anomaly investigation

  •   Participate in post-test data evaluation, problem identification, and resolutions 

  •   Skilled with Microsoft Office tools, Excel, and Power Point 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline along with 9 years of relevant experience, and/or Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with wind tunnel model testing

  • Must have a have a current active DoD Secret Clearance to start

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Program access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Must have Leadership or Managerial experience

  • Familiarity with EVMS and CAM responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years direct hands-on experience with test and mechanical design

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills 

  • Certified CAM training

  • Model design experience. 

  • Experience with and understanding of complete cradle-to-grave wind tunnel testing cycle, interfaces, and integrations from model design, wind tunnel data analytics and design, and instrumentation system designs.


Salary Range: $134,600 USD - $201,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
