The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector seeks team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems which protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you’ll get to do?

As a Staff Systems Engineer (Integration and Test Lead), you will directly support the Ground SEIT IPT lead in leading the Segment Integration and Test (I&T) team for the following responsibilities:  Hardware-Software Factory Integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), External interface checkout planning and testing, Ground Segment and System Requirements verification activities, Pre-ship Audit and Pre-ship Review, Site installation and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), coordination with internal and external Customers to ensure alignment to contractually required product deliveries and documentation, influence the program’s roadmap planning, and provide integration and test direction/guidance.

Some key tasks:

  • Plan factory and site I&T campaigns through ground segment selloff

  • Coordinate installation activities across multiple satellite operations centers

  • Perform Installation Manager duties at multiple satellite operations centers

  • Coordination with Software IPT, Hardware IPT, program SEIT and Customer

  • Perform Cost Account Manager (CAM) duties in an agile environment

  • Develop/update/maintain (IMS) schedule for all I&T activities

  • Manage Quarterly Program Increment Planning activities including Product Road mapping

  • Cost I&T activities for new and potential work (ECPs, CROMs, and CCFs)

Basic Qualifications for a Staff Systems Engineer (Integration and Test Lead):

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 14 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in STEM with 12 years of related experience, or a PhD with 9 Years of related experience

  • Experience with Hardware and Software Installations and Integration & Test principles and processes

  • Leadership Experience leading development activities and/or I&T activities

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access or active SCI access

  • Willing to obtain Cost Account Manager (CAM) Certification

  • Willing to Travel to support I&T activities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile development

  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers

  • Direct experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database

  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts

  • Excellent technical writing and team building skills

  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) Certified

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI access or active SCI access


Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
