Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Vehicle Systems Integration Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering organization.  This role is in Redondo Beach, CA.

In this role you will design, develop, integrate, and test software and models for our end-user customers and businesses.  Specifically, you will be responsible for the design, development, and administration of subsystems models and controller software.  You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Subsystems Engineering, Software Engineering, Vehicle Management Systems, GNC, Systems Engineering, Test Automation, and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment. 

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
  • Develop simulation models for cooling, hydraulic, fuel, and power distribution systems in support of analysis and software integration, for all stages of modeling life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, verification and validation, and trade studies.
  • Develop software for management of subsystems and for integration into the software environment, for all stages of the software development life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers.
  • Support testing and deployment of software on embedded, real-time systems for use in flight and mission critical systems.
  • Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.


Basic Qualifications for Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of related professional engineering experience OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related professional engineering experience.
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with aircraft subsystems architectures and/or designs
  • Experience with at least one of the following programming or scripting languages: Javascript, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with Software Version Control.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related professional engineering experience OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 3 years for of related professional engineering experience.
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with aircraft subsystems architectures and/or designs
  • Experience with at least one of the following programming or scripting languages: Javascript, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with Software Version Control.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of C++ language
  • Strong understanding of building Matlab/Simulink models for auto coding.
  • Strong understanding of python language constructs as well as familiarity with commonly used modules.
  • Strong understanding of Javascript language constructs as well as familiarity with commonly used modules.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development, software and hardware integration and testing.
  • Basic understanding of hardware interface concept.
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,000 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
