Northrop Grumman is seeking a Test / Principal Test Engineer with an Active Secret clearance.

The candidate will be at our Ridgecrest, CA facility and work independently with consultation and help from our Northridge, CA team.

Role Description:

The candidate will test and troubleshoot at the system level and lower level assemblies. This role will include working with operations in order to coordinate testing efforts and work on processes, as well as working with engineering to support projects and investigations.  The candidate will be working in a cross functional team in order to coordinate test efforts amongst program stakeholders and test results.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Test and Evaluation Engineering department, Advanced Weapons division.


Job Responsibilities:

-Work with internal and external customers to define and document instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning including acquisition, processing, and analysis to satisfy test objectives

-Responsible for data summary, distribution, and test report authorship.

- Demonstrate excellence with data collection and reduction tools such as Matlab, Labview, Excel, etc

-Use of Logic Analyzers, Software Based Debugging tools, In-Circuit Emulators, RF Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators

-Continually improve processes to address deficiencies and best practices

-Develop and maintain test plans, test data, test reports, and test procedures

-Look for trends and possible system issues that will lead to root cause analysis

-Troubleshoot production failures in order to keep the line moving

-Perform tests by understanding ATPs or technical memos in order to deviate and adjust tests as needed

-Communicate between different members of the team to move product and get past any obstacles

Basic Qualifications for a Test Engineer Level 2:
-Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years experience or a Masters in STEM with 0 years of experience.

-Active Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Test Engineer Level 3: 

-Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Masters in Engineering with 3 years of experience.

-Active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience with using different test equipment, i.e. oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, DMM, signal generator

- Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment

-Experience using Microsoft Office

-Able to communicate effectively and clearly to present technical approaches and findings

-Able to work independently with minimal direction and act as team lead for larger test efforts

-Experience in writing test plans and test reports

Travel: 10%


Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
