Northrop Grumman Future Programs is seeking a Principal Systems Architect Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Architect Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team. This position is located in San Diego, CA and supports Classified efforts OR various FVL (future vertical lift) proposal efforts, RWP (request for white papers), executing studies awarded to Northrop Grumman and its partners.  

What you’ll get to do:

The selected job candidate will be joining a Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) team and assist in modeling existing configurations and capabilities. The candidate will also assist in documenting and transforming new configurations and capabilities. Some tasks may include capturing future business and winning short and long term studies that will propel NGAS to obtain new programs in 2024 and beyond. The proposal efforts are responsible for developing the Global Surveillance Division Reference Architecture integrating open mission architecture (OMS), common OMS architecture (COMSA), Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) and other enterprise capabilities. In addition, the candidate will also model mission threads, scenarios, capabilities, weapon integration interfaces, CONOPS related views, and related items. This is an exciting position whereby you will be exposed to state of the art technology and building the next generation unmanned air systems (UAS).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 6 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD
  • Experience with basic systems engineering toolset and languages (e.g. DOORS, Cameo, UML, SysML)
  • Experience with DoDAF standards and methods
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge/familiar with Mission Engineering, ABMS, JADC2, Autonomy, GRA, Common Products, COMSA, OMS/UCI, OAM, Digital Engineering
  • Knowledge/familiar with weapons integration, Air Vehicle, Fixed Wing, Tilt Rotor, VTOL, etc..
  • Familiar with airworthiness, cybersecurity, exportability, mission and vehicle systems

This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
