Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Digital Strategy & Analytics (DSA) Systems Engineering Section Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership position is based in Rancho Bernardo, CA, however, a hybrid option for a California resident may be considered.  It will require part-time travel (approx 25-50% of time) to other locations as required. 

The Digital Strategy & Analytics (DSA) Department within the Engineering Division of the Aeronautics Systems Sector has a need for a Section Manager to functionally lead their respective section, which is a team of approximately 8-15 professionals deployed to our programs, that develop business solutions and applications to enhance program performance.  

Responsibilities include leading application development to enhance Engineering operational efficiency, developing talent, training, and technology strategies for the organization, and partnering with programs to identify needs for DSA solutions.

This position reports directly to the DSA Department Manager.  DSA is an Agile team comprised of approximately 60 professionals dedicated to finding efficiencies by leveraging existing data and augmenting with modern digital design and analytics.  Digital Strategy and Analytics north star is to help programs achieve their affordability and efficiency targets using modern digital technology.  We solve complex problems by leveraging skill sets in the following areas: Data Science, Data Engineering, Web Development and Agile Project Management. 

The successful candidate will be a high-energy self-starter, creative, and entrepreneurial individual with strong oral and written/visual communication skills who’s able to collaborate with executive leadership, propose and develop solutions for customers, as well as mentor and lead direct reports with a service leadership approach. Functional and project management experience is a plus.  The role will require the candidate to perform 80% of their time direct to a project and 20% to their functional responsibilities.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of engineering/program management experience OR Master's Degree with 7 years of engineering/program management experience
  • 5 years as a Lead and/or Manager experience
  • 5 years of experience in either one of the following disciplines (Data Science, Data Engineering, Web Development, and/or Agile Project Management)
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active DoD secret clearance

This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Unknown City, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $134,400 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
