We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager with our Mission Systems Sector, based out of San Diego, CA.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineering Manager to lead the BACN Networks team.  The Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible to support the Joint All-Domain Gateway (JAD-G) Operating Unit (OU), within the Networked Solutions (NS) Business Unit.  This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of cross-discipline engineers who design, integrate, and operate secure, military communications networks

  • Mentor, train, and develop junior engineers

  • Ensure your team of network engineers maintain an advanced technical understanding of TCP/IP networks and current products and technologies like routers, firewalls, and switches

  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to develop innovative solutions to resolve challenging problems

  • Prepare for and conduct presentations and demonstrations to customers, program leadership, and other stakeholders

This position will require onsite work however for this role we are able to offer flexible work arrangements and some remote work will be possible.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 9 years of experience; OR 7 years of experience with a Masters (MS) degree; OR 4 years of experience with a PhD

  • Direct or indirect experience building and managing technical teams

  • An interest in mentoring, training, and developing junior engineers

  • Clearance: Candidate must currently have and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in Networking or Systems Administration

  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection

  • Experience with network device configuration and troubleshooting

  • Familiar with network management protocols (e.g.,  SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS)

  • Experience administering Linux and/or Red Hat Virtualization systems.

  • Knowledge of LDAP, DNS, and database services.

  • Experience establishing strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and supports obtaining certification and accreditation of systems.

    • Includes support of process, analysis, coordination, security certification test, security documentation, as well as investigations, software research, hardware introduction and release, emerging technology research inspections and periodic audits.

  • Experience implementing DoD Cybersecurity requirements.

  • Knowledge of MBSE

  • Demonstrated experience leading medium to large complex projects

  • Demonstrated experience managing the fact-finding, analysis, and development of hypothesis/conclusions, production of final reports and delivery of presentations

  • Demonstrated responsibility for ensuring that the project delivers to government expectations on time and to budget; manage the project work as defined by the government

  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and/or Control Account Manager (CAM)

  • Demonstrated performance as a consultant in highly specialized, leading edge information technologies and methodologies.

  • Ability to communicate well, including proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time


Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
