Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Staff Systems Architect Engineer to join our Systems Analysis & Simulation team. This position can be located in San Diego or Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will serve as a technical lead to drive the development of multi-domain System-of-Systems (SoS) architectures to be analyzed in agent-based simulations. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of mission requirements derivation and will be familiar with future warfighting environments. The candidate will work alongside teams of architects and systems engineers in the development of conceptual models to be employed in constructive and virtual simulations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Model operational environments and perform trade studies 
  • Serve as a key contributor to definitions and controls of MBSE requirements for existing and future product development.
  • Engage in formal and informal mentoring to support knowledge transfer and talent development.
  • Develop and further enhance the MBSE architectural framework.
  • Prepare and present briefings, concept papers, and proposals to stakeholders internally and externally.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. in STEM or related technical discipline and 14 years of relevant experience or an M.S. and 12 years of relevant experience, or a PHD in a related discipline and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing to effectively interact with high level Customers, along with demonstrated experience in preparing concept papers, briefings, trade studies, proposals, and similar documents
  • Experience in systems modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with at least one of the following:
    • Vehicle performance modeling
    • Radar or E&M concepts and applications in the defense or transportation industries
    • Propulsion system modeling
    • Weather system modeling
  • Familiarity with MBSE and SysML concepts and software suites such as CAMEO or Sparx EA.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with a current active Secret Clearance or above
  • The ability to gain and maintain a Secret Clearance and SAP access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proposal development, writing or execution
  • Experience working within the Agile methodology
  • Proficient in CAMEO
  • Operational military background or experience with air battle management or integrated air defense, space systems, intelligence, electronic warfare, uncrewed aircraft systems 
  • Experience in leadership planning and execution, with the skills motivate people to work as an integrated team across disparate locations, and cultures
  • Experience in at least one of the below:
    • Red and/or Blue CONOPs and tactics
    • Modeling and Simulation of Radars, Missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), air/ground/maritime/space platforms
    • Electronic Warfare (EW), Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Countermeasures
    • Low Observables (LO)
    • Radio Frequency (RF)/Infrared (IR)/Electro-Optical (EO)/Acoustic Modeling & Analysis
    • Analysis of Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability, Engagement at the mission level
  • An active, in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (SAP)/SCI

This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Redondo Beach, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
