At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is a trusted provider of mission-enabling solutions for global security.  Our Engineering and Sciences (E&S) organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills, innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter.  Come be a part of our mission!

The rotating machinery team within the Systems Integration and Test group is seeking an innovative, self-driven Sr. Principal Systems Integration and Test Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to join our dynamic, multifaceted team.  As one of us, your mission will be to ensure that the devices we create here to turn steam into electricity and propulsion for our nation’s newest submarines and aircraft carriers meet the stringent standards our nation’s fleet requires.

What You’ll get to Do:

You will have responsibility for all test-related activity associated with one of our product lines.  Under your indirect leadership will be an IPT consisting of leads from Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality who are charged with accomplishing system-level test campaigns of large, precision, electromechanical machinery such as turbine-generators and gear-driven propulsion units.  Between test campaigns, you will be responsible as well for leading teams to accomplish all associated readiness and continuous-improvement activities in support of these campaigns.

As the Sr. Principal Systems Integration and Test IPT lead, you will also own project manager responsibilities and own the triple-constraint:  scope, schedule, and cost.  You will lead the team that turns requirements into plans and procedures and then accomplishes it.  Scope changes will be your responsibility to review, accept, and define.  During test campaigns, you will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 15 employees in your immediate sphere. As CAM, you will perform daily and weekly analyses of your accounts, submit monthly Change Requests (CRs) to adjust time-phasing for budget and Estimate at Completion (EAC), and perform twice-yearly Comprehensive Estimate at Completion (CEAC) analyses and CRs.  As owner of the triple constraint, you will be responsible for ensuring that cost, schedule, and resources are aligned to meet your objectives.

Note that our unique test campaigns require 24/7 effort.  Leading the effort will take between 12 and 13 hours of your time each day.  However, you will share the workload with peers to have scheduled days off—although the workload may span two and four weeks continuously in some cases.  Although the workload may sound intense, we do offer flexibility in taking paid time off and compensate for all additional hours worked on shift during testing campaigns.  Travel may also be required infrequently for meetings at customer sites.

The selected candidate will be expected, under this heavy workload, to manage upward, downward, as well as, laterally while leading time-critical efforts under customer watch with visibility at the VP level.  Ingenuity, situational awareness, emotional intelligence, and executive presence will be key to your success.  If this type of work plays to your strengths and goals, then we would like to hear from you!

We are looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Principal Systems Integration and Test IPT (Integrated Product Team) Lead based in Sunnyvale, CA.
