We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Integration and Test Manager Level 2 based out of Sunnyvale, CA.  In this role at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What you’ll get to do:

The Systems Integration & Test Manager 2 is responsible for providing functional leadership and direction to approximately 10 to 15 Systems Integration & Test Engineers. The role is dual-hat; responsible for both section management (20% of the time) and program related test execution (80% of the time). Responsibilities include managing the planning, preparation, execution, data acquisition, data analysis, and reporting associated with all machinery and/or launcher tests and for maintaining and developing the necessary resources, tools and capabilities to support and execute these tests.  The job includes management of time keeping, performance reviews, staffing and resource planning, training, and team engagement for their section.

The candidate will lead a diverse and distributed team comprised of multiple skill-sets and must be able to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions.  A successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and management experience is a must.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Manage day-to-day activities for all machinery and/or launcher engineering tests, including test planning, test procedure preparation, test setup, test execution, data acquisition, data analysis, test report preparation, reporting, and records retention.   
  • Ensuring test plans satisfy system test requirements per the statement of work
  • Develop and manage to comprehensive project timelines and resource requirements for all tests
  • Manage budgets and provide guidance to Engineering regarding test costs with focus on implementing lean principles to improve efficiency and reduce cost
  • Identify, select and manage third-party testing resources/companies as needed
  • Manage the design, construction and installation of all testing equipment and ensure proper maintenance of test equipment and instrumentation
  • Ensure implementation of adequate safety programs and measures to ensure the safety of personnel and machinery
  • Participate in root cause analysis and investigations of all test failures and test issues
  • Implement formal mentoring and training programs for Test Engineering personnel towards improving their skills, performance and technical knowledge
  • Maintain necessary levels of technical competence within the test organization
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge transfer plans, succession plans and employee career-path plans

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 9 years of engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of engineering experience.   
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.
  • Experience with data acquisition including measurement of sound and vibration and experience with root cause and problem resolution required.
  • Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all involved employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline (preferred Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
  • Prior team lead, assignment manager and/or performance management experience.
  • Experience on Navy programs.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements development, or technical project management experience preferred.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Agile (SCRUM) techniques and activities.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering processes, procedures and work instructions required to support both management and engineering tasks
  • Experience with proposals

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
