We are looking for you to join our team as a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA.  As a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineerat Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) Systems Engineering team based out of Woodland Hills, CA. MS&A’s mission is to be able to provide rapid iteration, the right level of fidelity, early visualization and presentation of data, and faster solutions.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.

Responsibilities:

• Develop new and/or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, plant models using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Design, analyze, and tune Kalman filters.
• Generate navigation algorithms that account for error sources derived from the performance modeling of inertial measurement systems and navigation systems.
• Create data reduction tools to evaluate navigation system performance.
• Automate the data reduction and analysis toolset to support developmental and production testing.
• Simulate real-time operations and develop software that simulates behavior of systems.
• Develop, integrate, and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
• Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation, and recommend alternative architectures.
• Perform performance/operational analyses.
• Perform trade studies and simulation analyses with the objective of enhancing/optimizing system performance capabilities.
• Work with highly skilled teams and communicate clearly with customers, project management, and internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Systems Engineer:

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 5 years’ experience in related engineering fields, OR MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 3 years’ experience in related engineering fields, OR a PhD AND 0 years’ experience
• Knowledge of C++, MATLAB, Simulink
• Experience in controls theory and implementation
• General understanding of inertial navigation systems and the GPS system
• US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Systems Engineer:

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 9 years’ experience in related engineering fields, OR MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics AND 7 years’ experience in related engineering fields, OR a PhD AND 4 years’ experience
• Knowledge of C++, MATLAB, Simulink
• Experience in controls theory and implementation
• General understanding of inertial navigation systems and the GPS system
• US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics
• Direct experience in MS&A methodologies and tools/standards (such as MATLAB / Simulink or STK, etc.) or MS&A VV&A process
• Experience with software engineering development lifecycle processes and configuration management
• Experience in inertial navigation systems
• Gitflow and trunk-based software development
• Productionizing data processing scripts for performance verification testing
• Active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player/leader with strong analytical skills and an analysis/systems thinking mindset

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
