We are looking for you to join our team as a Manager Systems Engineering 1 or 2 for Integration & Test based out of Woodland Hills, CA.  As a Manager Systems Engineering for Integration & Test at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manager Systems Engineering 1 or 2 for Integration & Test to join our team. This position is an onsite position located in Woodland Hills, CA. You’ll join our experts in the Mission Systems Sector in developing systems and solutions that keep our world safe.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Navigators/IMU and Specialty team which provides engineering support to all programs within the Navigators and IMU Operating Units as well as Specialty Engineering support to the entire Woodland Hills campus. The Manager Systems Engineering for Integration & Test is responsible for managing a team that develops and maintains the system-level verification processes during all phases of product development and manufacturing including system integration and qualification. This group operates at the nexus of all engineering disciplines to verify the products meet customer requirements. This position may also oversee the team that supports Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Environmental testing.  The successful applicant shall have ability to lead the execution of verification campaigns, drive cross-functional partnerships, and cultivate the talent bench. This position is 20% Functional management and 80% direct program support.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of department vision and strategies to drive employee engagement; conduct hiring, training, and development of top talent; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracy
  • Staff resource planning
  • Conduct performance and salary reviews
  • Mentor, challenge, and identify opportunities for team members to develop skills needed to pursue tailored career/development paths
  • Cultivate and foster an environment of commitment to excellence
  • Drive continuous process improvement and usage of common processes across programs, as appropriate
  • Provide management guidance to achieve outstanding cost, schedule and technical performance
  • Responsible for technical guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposals
  • Manage personnel assignments and lab resources in a highly dynamic and fast-paced engineering environment

Basic Qualifications for Manager Systems Engineering I&T Level 1:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience or a Master’s degree in Engineering in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 3 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
  • A proven track record of leading a team of engineering, establishing strong cross-functional relationships, and managing stakeholder expectations (internal and external)
  • Experience in cost estimating an engineering effort
  • US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance

Basic Qualifications for Manager Systems Engineering  I&T Level 2:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience or a Master’s degree in Engineering in a STEM discpline and a minimum of 3 years of progressive engineering experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
  • A proven track record of leading a team of engineering, establishing strong cross-functional relationships, and managing stakeholder expectations (internal and external)
  • Experienced in metrics-based cost estimating and the use of prior actual costs to support Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for engineering estimates
  • US Citizenship is required in order to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated passion for developing people, personally and professionally
  • Prior experience in navigation-based engineering environments
  • Experience in the development of military airborne electronics
  • Knowledge of/experience with emerging airworthiness (e.g., DO-178, DO-254) development processes highly desired
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Engineering methods and tools
  • Test & Evaluation background at the component, LRU, system level, involving requirements analysis, test planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting
  • Experience in Earned Value program practices
  • Experience working in Waterfall and Agile environments
  • Current Secret Clearance


Salary Range: $123,200 USD - $184,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
