Northrop Grumman has an opening for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support the National Security Sector in Aurora, CO, in providing information technology upgrades for a network-centric program.


    The candidate will be responsible for the vetting of systems integration lifecycle requirements to include coordination and completion of systems engineering, integration and test tasks, while overseeing all aspects of engineering planning, design and implementation.
•    Establish functional and technical specifications of service requests.
•    Work with customers and an engineering team to validate service requests requirements and facilitate a final engineering design.
•    Work with other engineers, systems analysts, programmers, technicians, and top¬ level managers in the design, testing and implementation of technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
•    Provide frequent contact with customers, traceability within program documents, and the overall status of projects.
•    Consult customers, visit workplaces, conduct surveys to validate engineering designs are sufficient to meet customer expectations.
•    Ensures adequate and appropriate planning for facility hardware and communications .
•    Prepares engineering plans and site installation technical design packages.
•    Provides coordination in the analysis, acquisition and installation of hardware and software.
•    Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
•    Coordinate with vendors and with program personnel to facilitate purchases.
•    Coordinate with logistics and integration teams to facilitate equipment staging, shipment and installation.
•    Prepare milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system test and evaluation concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.
•       Knowledge, Skills and Ability Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
•       Candidate should be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
•       Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
•       Impact guides the successful completion of major milestones and may function in a project leadership role.
•       Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
•       Prepare reports for upper management regarding status of project.
•       Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
•       Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI, with CI Poly  
  • 9 Years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.

    

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills

Salary Range: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
