Duties:

  • Conducts mission and program specific real time spacecraft and satellite flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation phases.
  • Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, command and control of on-orbit satellites and performance of ground system and ground to space communications systems.
  • Provides technical direction for on-orbit mission support, critical vehicle malfunction recovery and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support. Conducts failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data.  
  • Provide engineering support team working the checkout of new spacecraft.

This position can be hired as a Principal (level 3) or Sr Principal (level 4) depending on experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires TOP SECRET clearance with current SCI and Program Access. 
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (level 3) or 9 years (level 4) or more years conducting space operations activities.  Must be proficient in the use of command-and-control software and associated scripting methodologies.   
  • U.S. citizen
  • Must have an understanding of trending and telemetry analysis. 
  • Must be familiar with the basic principles of orbit determination and uncertainty. 
  • Must be able to provide risk assessment and mitigation plans for on-orbit operations. 
  • Must be willing to perform on-call duties at least once a month for a week. 
  • Work is performed off-site at a customer facility.  Must be willing to travel to off-site locations to conduct required duties in support of customer operations.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the use of command-and-control systems and customer communications systems
  • Experience in both customer and corporate fault and anomaly resolution actions
  •  Experience with customer deficiency reporting and resolution
  •  Complete understanding of the customer ground to space communications systems

Salary Range: $86,000 USD - $122,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $107,000 USD - $153,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
