The Missile Defense Solutions (MDS) Business Unit (BU) is looking for a Missile Modeling Engineer to support IRADs and missile defense programs in the Colorado Springs location to support Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis of existing and new military systems. The Missile Modeling Engineer role serves as a developer and verifier of kinematic threat and interceptor models developed to support Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA's) various use cases. This position requires a detail-oriented entry-level engineer responsible for developing high fidelity ballistic and maneuvering missile models for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools and frameworks. Must be able to apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight. Must have a good understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes. Must be able to research, interpret and verify parameters required to build, replicate, and propagate missile trajectories to include staging, debris, counter-measures and payload traits. The selected individual must be able to work with little or no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team and meet time critical delivery schedules.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Physics, or Math; or 0 years of experience with a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Physics, or Math.
• Programming background to include languages such as MATLAB and Python
• Knowledge of flight characteristics, motion, and performance of ballistic missiles
• Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment
• Must already possess an active DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Requirements:

• Strong math, physics or engineering background
• Modeling, Simulation, and Automation experience
• Experience with Trajectory Generator (TG) missile simulation engine
• Previous experience with modeling flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of ballistic missiles
• Background in missile system performance analysis
• Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
