Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Run Ahead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

Team member of the Run-Ahead CFPT on the C2BMC National Team, performing in the Arrow scrum team. A successful candidate will work with a multi-contractor team in the development and execution of a comprehensive assessment program supporting a capability-based acquisition of the C2BMC Element of the BMDS. This role will include a number of key responsibilities within the CFPT.

Essential Functions:

  • A successful candidate will complete use case development, and prepare systems engineering artifacts including definition of Epics and Features to be developed by program Cross-Functional Product Teams to implement customer requested capabilities.
  • Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, system engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews.
  • Work will be performed under the direction of various technical leads and product owners and require interfacing with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available.
  • Adhere to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basis.
  • Work with teams crossing multiple functions in order to drive data connectivity from architecture-to-requirements-to-test.
  • Within this capacity, a successful candidate will work to understand the data stream, construct an engineering pipeline, establish a rhythm of maintenance, and provide support for tools troubleshooting.
     

Basic Qualifications:

If applicable, please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.

  • An active Secret clearance is required.
  • 9 Years with Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 7 years’ experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Candidate must have experience participating in requirements development and capability assessments of the C2BMC or equivalent BMDS elements.
  • Experience must include specific roles on a program with respect to use case development, requirements solicitation, derivation, and decomposition through a structured and logical approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze high level needs utilizing use cases/scenarios and relate them to the requirements.
  • Candidate must be able to lead efforts associated with the development of objectives and requirements for capability assessments and have prior experience writing assessment plans.
  • Candidate must have experience developing Use cases to support test case flow development.
  • Candidate should be an expert in all Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with DOORS.
  • The candidate should have demonstrated experience in mission analysis with skill in development of use cases, sequence diagrams, and SysML modeling in support of MBSE.
  • Possess experience in missile defense command and control, battle management, architectures and communications system concepts, mission, and common system test and data analysis techniques including verification of requirements.
  • Requirements solicitation, derivation, and decomposition to lower level subsystems and components.
  • Maintenance of system and component baselines in a requirement management system.
  • Defining the relationships between internal and external components.
  • Communicating system level use cases and associated Epics and Feature relationships to a diverse group of customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with / knowledge of MBSE or model-based engineering desired.
  • Experience with Agile Methods, and Epic and Feature definition is a significant plus.
  • Skills generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.
  • In addition, experience in developing capability assessments, assessment objectives and related assessment plans and procedures.
  • Experience in scripting and automated test development is a plus.
  • Skills in logical architecture modeling and/or interface definition, as well as knowledge of cyber security concepts and security accreditation are highly desirable.

Salary Range: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
