Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking applicants for positions on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. These positions will focus on Agile lifecycle development and Sustainment activities for the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS). This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Support the PARCS agile development teams focused on DEVSECOPS solutions
  • Support the development of system test solutions in accordance with project technical, schedule and cost constraints
  • Assist team in development of innovative Test Automation solutions
  • Participating, preparing and executing comprehensive system/element level test plans and procedures
  • Supporting system/element level test planning and test readiness reviews
  • Documenting test requirements and methodologies in the requirements management system.
  • Reviewing system engineering documentation to ensure test plans and methodologies meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, consistent and complete
  • Supporting the development of system integration plans, procedures and scenarios used in the conduct of software/hardware system integration testing
  • Participating in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure technical quality and engineering rigor is appropriate
  • Participating in project technical risk analysis and mitigation

The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment. They will be a self-starter and efficient in achieving goals and proactive in pursuing subsequent tasks. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • 9 Years of systems engineering experience with a Bachelor’s - STEM; 7 Years of systems engineering experience with a Master’s - STEM; 4 Years of systems engineering experience with a PhD - STEM. (STEM degree is required to be considered**)
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance (US Citizenship is required**)
  • Systems Engineering leadership including Project architecture, Requirements development and management, Process management and improvement, Design integration and test planning
  • Familiarity and/or experience with DOORS requirements management tool
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Model-based Systems Engineering theory and tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance
  • Experience with automated testing techniques and tools
  • Technical documentation and analysis experience
  • Experience in Agile development processes, preferably Kanban and/or Scrum
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active or Interim DoD Secret clearance is highly preferred
  • Familiarity and/or experience with real-time operating systems
  • Familiarity and/or experience with emulation/virtualization technologies
  • Familiarity with ground-based radars, familiarity with phased array radars – Ideally with Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS), PAVE Phased Array Warning System (PAVE PAWS), and the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS) systems.
  • Experience using test automation tools and writing basic test scripts using Java or python programming languages
  • Experience in Linux scripting using bash or python languages

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
