Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal System Modeling Simulation Engineer – M&S Analyst & Simulation Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO

Position Overview:

Seeking a highly motivated analyst to support the C2BMC-NT (National Team), specifically the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Product Team. Applicant will be expected to provide technical expertise in the area of Missile Defense (MD) modeling and simulation and/or analysis.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and execute performance analyses on C2BMC and its interactions with current and planned-future MD Elements, document analysis results in reports and briefings, present analysis results to a variety of audiences, develop requirements for complex system models/simulations
  • Execute, test and evaluate/trouble-shoot MD level, large scale models/simulations
  • Develop, test, and evaluate threat scenarios
  • Develop tools to support analysis and development effort in MATLAB, Python, JAVA
  • Provide data to support decisions regarding system/element representations and modeling parameters used in large scale simulations
  • Interact with members of other C2BMC Product Teams, C2BMC leadership, MDA customers, and technical SMEs as well as leadership of other MD Element programs

Basic Qualifications:

If applicable, please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.

  • An active Secret clearance is required.
  • 9 Years with Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 13 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Applicant must have a solid engineering background that covers a variety of disciplines which support both conceptual and detailed system level assessments, as well as a basic understanding of analysis techniques, planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Technical specialty areas may include, but are not limited to the following: radar design and performance, endo/exo-atmospheric interceptor design and performance, threat target discrimination, strategic and tactical missile threat characterization/performance/modeling, simulation modeling of complex systems, requirements development, requirements or performance analysis using simulation models, and simulation modeling Verification, Validation and Accreditation.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience working in a Unix/Linux environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Jenkins pipelines, GIT environment a plus
  • Discrete event simulation modeling, big data analysis using sound statistical principles, exposure to tactical-strategic weapon and sensor message standards, software development in a Linux and agile environment using MATLAB (strongly preferred) and/or Python, Java, Bash, etc.

Salary Range: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
