We have an opening for a System Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the NOALS organization.

The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills, innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter. What You’ll get to Do:

  • Perform the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost analysis, and risk mitigation of total systems in support of space operations

  • Advise and directly interface with the customer and senior engineering leadership as an integrated project team lead on classified projects

  • Implement systems engineering processes to define system interfaces, requirements, and behaviors while providing support to system design and baseline modernization

  • Participate in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure technical quality and appropriate level of engineer rigor is applied

  • Execute critical functions in support of commanding directives and the collection of telemetry during launch events and on-orbit operations for space vehicles

  • Assist in the implementation of the required government policy to make recommendations on project tailoring, participate in and document project activities

  • Perform both technical and non-technical assessments of requirements and work with functional area personnel to develop design to remediate those requirements

  • This position is primarily focused on the Operations & Sustainment of several interconnect end networks; however, knowledge of the System Engineering processes, Agile development, and DevOps is essential for mission success

This position can be filled at a level 3 or 4 based on the basic qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI & current/active Polygraph is required in order to be considered.

  • Position is normally Mon - Fri: may require on-call, evening, and weekend support during system anomalies or mission requirements

  • Level 3: Bachelor’s + 5 years of experience or 3 years with a Masters; 0 with Ph.D. 4 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree.

  • Level 4: Bachelor’s + 9 years of experience or 7 years with a Masters; 4 with PhD. 4 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree.

  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes

  • Experience with Agile development

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel Office Products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Server System Administration and troubleshooting analysis in some or all the following platforms: Linux, Windows servers/clients, and Oracle/SQL Databases

  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers

  • Ability to interface with multiple stakeholders from a variety of organizations (internally and externally) in support of requirements development

  • Solid technical foundation in Systems Engineering processes

  • Experience with Systems Integration and System/Software Testing, including virtualized environments

  • Working knowledge of system design and overall integration into an operational environment

  • Detailed knowledge of Windows and Unix environments

  • Security + or another DoD 8570 approved certification


Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
