The Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) Modeling and Simulation Software (MSS) at Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Configuration Analyst on the SWDC Configuration Management team out of Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO. 

What you’ll get to do?

 As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will work with a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, validate, and test requirements for a diverse suite of Missile Defense software M&S products on the SWDC contract. A primary objective which the team will achieve is to develop Systems Engineering products within a Model Based Engineering (MBE) environment. Additionally, this position requires the ability to support as a UX Interaction Designer. The UX Designer will be responsible for interaction design activities and deliverables including task flows, wireframes, prototypes, pattern libraries, design documentation, storyboards, and scenarios for projects. This position requires someone who can understand user behavior. In the role of UX Designer, you will be working with a UX Strategist to develop and execute an implementation plan and will be responsible for gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers.

Roles and Responsibilities Include:

In this role, you will be supporting a technical lead, in addition to cross function product teams to define, maintain, and update the technical baseline as capability is added or enhanced. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 Years experience with Bachelors in STEM, or 0 Years with Masters.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Human Factors Engineering, workflow modeling, or graphic design
  • Familiarity with Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) tool suite
  • Familiarity with complex software systems, including configuring and executing
  • Knowledgeable on development lifecycles, including the V-model of the systems engineering process
  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense System and mission
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and lead to solve technical problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include creating documentation during development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Software development experience
  • Experience with writing scripts using a variety of languages (Python, Matlab, Javascript)
  • Experience with Modeling and Simulation products
  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience (SysML/UML)
  • Program experience within the Missile Defense Agency elements (GMD, Aegis BMD, C2BMC, etc)
  • Experience developing sophisticated software within Agile or SAFe
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems

This position reports to Schriever AFB, CO, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Colorado Springs, CO, CO, USA.


Salary Range: $77,200 USD - $115,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
