Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Orbital Analyst to support launch and mission operations for the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS) at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, in support of the Missile Defense Agency. This position is primarily day shift but requires on-call support of 24/7 flight operations.

 

Primary orbital analyst duties will consist of:
-Support on-orbit operations throughout the Launch and Early Orbit Test demonstration phase
-Provide orbital analyst expertise to ensure spacecraft/payload system health and status
-Brief management and the customer on orbital analysis products, reports, and issues
-Perform short- and medium-term orbital analysis and participate in long term operations planning
-Produce daily/weekly orbital products for operations team members
-Generation of all ephemeris related products both for ground software and spacecraft upload
-Provide inputs for the mission planners to generate ground contact schedules
-Determine if the spacecraft will violate any station keeping requirements, and if so, determine and assist the planning and execution of station-keeping maneuvers to keep the spacecraft within its required bounds
-Conduct orbital analysis in support of conjunction avoidance
-Support calibration, experiments, and tests of the payload
-Participate in all operational rehearsals/exercises, supplying orbital products as required
-Coordinate with operations engineering in the planning and scheduling of spacecraft and payload operations and maintenance tasks
-Conduct orbital analysis planning tasks in support of MDA test events

 

Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 7+ years of engineering experience OR PhD Degree in a STEM discipline and 4+ years of engineering experience.

-Candidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Dept of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 10 years OR Dept of Energy L clearance with a background investigation date within 10 years.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in spacecraft and payload operations planning functions, launch and early-orbit test operations, and satellite command and control on-console operations. Working knowledge of software operating systems such as UNIX, Systems Tool Kit (STK), Orbit Covariance Estimation and Analysis (OCEAN), and MATLAB.

Salary Range: $107,000 USD - $160,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
