Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Platform and Infrastructure System Matter Expert (SME)- Networks to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position is at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

  • Must have the ability to design and architect cloud base system that support multiple enterprise networks.
  • Must have the ability to design networks that include multiple interfaces to include: cisco routers, juniper routers and switches, FortiGate Firewalls, Cross domain solutions (CDS) and Taclanes.
  • Have an advance understanding of BGP, OSPF and other routing protocols. 
  • Have an advance understanding of GRE tunnels and Virtual Route forwarding (VRF).
  • Must have extensive knowledge of infrastructure builds to include: sever rooms, labs, racks, cabling, HVAC, power systems, and CVTC/AV systems.
  • Must have profound knowledge working with physical security and getting government accreditations of faculties.
  • Must have extensive understanding of cyber security practices.
  • Must have the ability to execute the builds of secure system and facilities.
  • Coordinate planning, organization, and execution of engineering activities for development of assigned technical capabilities integrated into the JEMINI Network Team.
  • Be accountable for the overall engineering technical cost and schedule performance of the capability.
  • Mentor the infrastructure team to ensure development and growth opportunities.
  • Drive the use of best practices within the engineering team using Agile processes, tools and frameworks, will review capability artifacts, development practices for compliance with engineering principles, company and program standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the execution of technical development and accrediting systems. 
  • Provide guidance on technical solutions with System Architects.
  • Work with Program Managers, Development Engineers, and Release Train Engineers to develop schedules and technical cost performance of capabilities.
  • Manage risk mitigation activities, schedule planning, and manage change requests associated with the capabilities.
  • Prepare and present internal and external communications including but not limited to: In Process Reviews (IPRs), Integrated Engineering Technical Reviews (IETRs), and bi-weekly status meetings for program management and customer representatives.
  • Coordinate and resolve multiple resource de-confliction across the Agile Release Train (ART) as well as additional program ARTs.
  • Resolve schedule and technical issues.
  • Create and analyze what-if scenarios as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • An active Secret clearance is required.
  • 14 Years with bachelor’s degree in a related field; 18 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven project management experience as part of large DoD system and capabilities under development.
  • Experience in managing cost, schedule, and technical development on a large program.
  • Exhibit the ability to coordinate planning, execution, integration, and completion of projects within the area of assigned responsibility. 
  • Experience within the development of staffing plans as well as track staffing requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build effective relationships with subordinates, peers, senior management, and customers.
  • Experience within planning and coordinating activities such as documentation development, technical exchange meetings with stakeholders, test events, and capability deployments.
  • Support program management of strategic technical projects, problem-solving, and ensure effective operation of the overall business rhythm.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Experience within design management, development, and implementation of complex systems.
  • Ability to analyze project needs, program, and portfolio information needs, as well as determining the resources needed to achieve objectives.

  • Strong Interpersonal, Presentation, Communication, and Facilitation Skills.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies while remaining customer focused.
  • Proactively builds and aligns stakeholders, capabilities, and resources for getting things done quickly and achieving objectives.
  • Knowledge and experience with C2BMC NT/BC processes and procedures.
  • Prior experience working with the Missile Defense Agency and C2BMC.

Salary Range: $146,300 USD - $219,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
