Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems / Principal Systems Engineer - System Thread Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in Melbourne, Florida.

This position will support the maturation of thread capabilities for the Dev*Ops IPT of a manned aircraft mission. The Systems Engineer will work as a Thread Architect to mature the capabilities through functional analysis and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes to deliver just-in-time design and optimize the development schedule for incremental capability development and early integration. This individual will collaborate with several stakeholders (subsystem developers, system integrators, system testers, system requirements engineers) to support delivery of quality design products, lead Thread Capability detailed planning (and define acceptance criteria), and track the development schedule. This individual will also support development of thread integration plans and procedures and maintain technical cognizance of subsystem interdependencies and maturity of ICDs for identifying and resolving gaps. This individual will incorporate cross-IPT feedback to support the development and Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) approval of the following products:

•Architecture models of interface input/output, including messages, fields and signals, between subsystems to provide specification of end-to-end system capabilities for developers, specifically using the Rhapsody modeling tool

•Integration procedures

•Development schedules

•Models of software-to-hardware deployment and interface protocols

•Mapping between requirements and design

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.


Basic Qualifications:   

This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer level or Principal Systems Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Engineer are Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2 years of systems or software engineering experience Or Master’s Degree in STEM

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer are Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of systems or software engineering experience Or Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years of systems or software engineering experience

•Experience in Systems Engineering, particularly in aerospace systems

•Experience collaborating across engineering disciplines to architect, design, or implement complex systems.

•Active DoD Secret security clearance.

•Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain specific program access.
  

Preferred Qualifications: 

•Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of systems or software engineering experience Or Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years of experience

•Experience in integrating hardware and software in a lab environment

•Experience in software development, including interfacing with systems engineering and integration and test.

•Experience using Rhapsody to model large systems with multiple developers.

•Experience using Atlassian Jira and Confluence

•Experience in the military aerospace development environment is preferred.

•Active DoD Secret security clearance. Preference for in-scope investigation within past 5 years.
 


Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
