Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal Systems Engineer / Sr Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role the candidate will be expected to apply their expertise and knowledge of aircraft systems for development and analysis of system requirements and usage scenarios. Job responsibilities include decomposing high level requirements into systems and sub-systems specifications. Ensuring requirements are fully allocated, are understandable and testable. The Candidate will collaborate with E-2 suppliers and Customers, participate in working groups and gain design requirements approval from our Customers. A working knowledge of aircraft sub-systems and system level mission capabilities is required. Proficient level of understanding of Requirements Development and Analysis methods.  Use of the DOORS toolset for requirements management is required.

Essential Functions:
• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. 
• Performs analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. 
• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. 
• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. 

Basic Qualifications: 
•    Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience. (Preference of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Engineering)
•    Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 9 years of Engineering Experience OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of experience. (Preference of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Engineering)

•  Must have an in-scope active DoD Secret clearance or higher

•  Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start.
•  Experience in technical engineering requirements analysis, development, verification and/or validation
•  Expertise using DOORS or similar requirements management tool sets

Preferred Qualifications:
•  Experience leading and coordinating medium sized technical  teams employing the Agile development process. 
•  Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)  
•  Experience with direct interface and collaboration with customer representatives.  
•  Experienced DOORS user capable of creating/employing advanced scripts.


Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
