Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineer (Mission Engineering) / Principal Systems Engineer (Mission Engineering) to join our team of qualified, diverse. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions:
•    Key aspects include organization and self-drive to gather required information, work with stakeholders, and provide analyses and presentations.
•    Performs mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”. 
•    Ensures performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; develops mission relevant scenarios; assesses operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.
•    Develops new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models, and command and control models.
•    Simulates real-time operations and develops software that represent projected behavior of systems.
•    Develops, integrates, and uses advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
•    Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
•    Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
•    Develops and adapts existing models, methods, and simulations to support the design, development, and sustainment of system design concepts and technologies.
•    Performs trade studies and simulation analyses with the objective of enhancing and optimizing system performance capabilities.
•    Incorporates AI/ML techniques in Modeling and Simulation frameworks.
•    This position requires practical experience and interpretation of modeling and simulation results, algorithms, and formulas and must be able to communicate their significance and relevancy in a clear, detailed manner.

Basic Qualifications (Required for consideration for this position):

For Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience; Master’s Degree and 0 years of experience

For Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience; Ph.D and 0 years of experience
•    Familiar with at least one programming language, Python preferred
•    Ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
•    Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher.
•    Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access as required per business requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Experience in Python and MATLAB developing tools and algorithms
•    Previous experience in aviation and defense programs 
•    Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations
•    Experience with data mining techniques.
•    Experience discovering tasks that can be automated for efficiency
•    Familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architecture.
•    Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
•    Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present and brief technical data to all levels of leadership within the organization and U.S. Government.

•    Have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
•    Current or previous Special Program Access (SAP) access


Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
