Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for an Engineering Manager 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on the Mission Systems Ground Systems IPT. This position will be located on-site in Melbourne, FL.

The Ground Systems IPT Lead will report to the Director of Missions Systems and will provide management, direction and leadership and will have the responsibility, accountability and authority for the overall requirements, design, development, integration and certification of communications for the airborne platform. 

The Ground Systems IPT Lead will be responsible for the development and integration of specific Cloud Based Ground Systems solutions. The Ground System IPT Lead will be responsible for the development and integration of associated ground control elements of the system to provide seamless capability from mission planning through mission execution.

The Ground Systems  IPT Lead will manage functional resources, processes and procedures for the IPT: Manages technical, cost and schedule performance to achieve all cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives. Ensures coordination within the Ground Systems IPT to assure integration of the requirements, interfaces, and related technical performance. Ensures integration cross all mission systems IPTs to provide assurance of the delivery of fully integrated mission systems products. Ensures cost, schedule, and technical performance of the Ground Systems IPT.

The Ground Systems IPT Lead will be required to coordinate directly with the government and extended government agencies on the team’s behalf. The Ground Systems IPT lead will be expected to collaborate with all appropriate weapon system IPTs, including the Aircraft Systems Chief Engineer and Chief Architect .  The Ground Systems IPT Lead should have a working knowledge of platform integration during the development, integration and certification phases.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a moderate-sized team executing programmatic functions (cost, schedule, technical performance and growth)
  • Management of customer relationships
  • Support future efforts in advanced communications integration
  • Fostering team member collaboration
  • Collaborate with peers to build expertise, depth, and breadth throughout the NGC enterprise.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree AND 9 years of related professional and/or military experience that includes a background in encompassing design, development, integration, and testing of communications , navigation, and identification systems, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional and/or military experience that includes a background in encompassing design, development, integration, and testing of communications , navigation, and identification systems.
  • 5+ years of direct management / leadership experience, such as leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost, and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
  • Must have experience with EVMS or equivalent cost and schedule tracking.
  • Must have experience preparing for and presenting to customers.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the past 6 years)
  • Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current PAR
  • 10+ years of experience in military aerospace with direct experience in the design, development, integration, and testing of communications , navigation, and identification systems
  • 7+ years of management experience in Functional Management, Engineering Management, or Program Management
  • Experience managing large supplier contracts
  • Knowledge of networks and communications concepts and experience
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $152,100 USD - $228,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
