Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer/ Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Prognostics Health Management organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

**This position may be filled by either a Principal Systems Engineer Level or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer Level based on the qualifications listed. **

The ideal candidate should have a background in Prognostics Health Management (PHM), Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM), Diagnostics and will be expected to perform BIT Review Board (BRB) tasks including analysis of flight data to assign Fault ID codes and work with design engineering to improve Built-In-Test (BIT) Fault Detection, Fault Isolation and BIT False Alarm Analysis. The candidate is also expected to have a strong understanding of software concepts to ensure that PHM/BIT data can be fully integrated into the design.

Essential Functions:

• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

• Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

• Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets.

• Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization. Requires strong statistical and data visualization skills.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 5 years’ experience; OR a Masters’ Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years’ experience; OR a PhD with 0 years’ experience.

• Experience in Develop data architectures and data management solutions

• Expertise in statistics, machine learning, and modeling algorithms

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access within a reasonable period as determined by the company to meet business needs

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Engineer

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 9 years’ experience; OR a Masters’ Degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years’ experience; OR a PhD with 4 years’ experience

• Experience in Develop data architectures and data management solutions

• Experience with Python, or other scripting language

• Expertise in statistics, machine learning, and modeling algorithms

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access within a reasonable period as determined by the company to meet business needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 5 years.

• Experience with SQL, ETL, and databases

• Experience with Python, or other scripting language

• Experience working in DoD, Aviation, or Aerospace-focused positions

• Expertise with deep learning models via PyTorch or Tensorflow

• Expertise with using Pandas, Numpy, and scikit-learn libraries

• Strong data visualizations skills

• Experience with data preparation/cleansing

• Experience performing PHM, IVHM, DHM, and/or anomaly resolution

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
