Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a hands-on Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
The candidate should be fluent with requirements and verification, system design modeling, and testing best practices. The position calls for a Systems Engineer working on a fast paced engineering team to design and field solutions to solve fleet maintenance needs. The candidate should be able to work with experienced engineers analyzing requirements, designing test cases, modeling system design, and developing test procedures. Additionally, the position calls for an individual that is able to work with government maintenance customers to understand their need and come up with innovative solutions that meet those needs.
The candidate will be able to perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. The selected candidate will conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with other software, test, and systems engineers in the planning, design, development, and implementation of workstation based solutions in support of maintaining weapon system readiness.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access (es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5 years previous experience OR a Master’s Degree in STEM or Information Technology and at least 3 years' experience OR PhD with 1 year of experience.
Academic or work-related experience with developing and deploying applications for a cloud infrastructure
Academic or work-related experience with Machine Learning
Academic or work-related experience with writing requirements specifications and interface control documents
Academic or work-related experience in applying engineering disciplines to real world activities/systems
Experience developing architectures with enterprise modeling tools such as Rhapsody, Magic Draw, or Enterprise Architect
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating in an Agile environment
Experience with SysML or UML
Experience with DoDAF
Academic or work-related experience with full life-cycle software development projects
Academic or work-related experience performing studies, trades, and system analysis
Strong verbal/written communication skills, along with the ability to work well individually or within a team environment
