Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Engineer Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
The individual will develop system architectures and define key capabilities and performance requirements. The individual will define design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications, develop thorough definition of system external interfaces and define system implementation approach and operational concept. The candidate will ensure requirements are met and evaluate performance with customer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define system architectures
- Architecture, CONOPS, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Execution of trade studies to select from among multiple potential solutions
- Perform Systems Requirements analysis
- Management of requirements, include decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a Master’s of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
- Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) prior to the commencement of employment.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.
- Must have experience with SysML, MBSE Frameworks, Use cases, OR Sequence diagram definition, using MBSE tools such as Cameo.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Top Secret/SCI clearance with experience working on special programs
- Experience with generating tables, documentation using Cameo.
- Experience with modeling UCI/OMS Services and interfaces.
- Experience with modeling Cloud Native software Architectures.
- Knowledge and experience with the definition of OMS – Open Mission System Architecture Specification and UCI – Universal Command and Control Interface
- System Engineering experience specifically detailing Computer Software Component (CSC) to CSC interaction
- JIRA/Confluence experience
- Preferred candidate would have experience with HMI, Mission Displays, and Ground Systems
