Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and associated propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

This position will be hired as a
Staff Systems Engineer. This position is located at our Rolling Meadows, IL location within the greater Chicago metropolitan area. Opportunities are available in Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) organization for the Systems Integration & Test (I&T) team. Tasking can include leading the integration & testing of a space system, coordinate with various stakeholders, and present status to high-level leadership. Additional tasking may also include generation of test plans, test procedures, test automation, test reports, and execution of integration test activities in System Integration Labs (SILs) or offsite locations. I&T provides a great opportunity to work alongside a variety of other Systems, Hardware, Software and Mechanical engineers to successfully execute on mission-critical programs.

 

Sign-on bonus for available for eligible candidates who possess an ACTIVE TS/SCI clearance, and an additional sign-on bonus for eligible candidates who possess an active Polygraph.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • For Staff Systems Engineer, BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical degree with 14+ years (or MS with 12+ years; or PhD with 9+ years) related experience

  • Full life cycle experience developing, integrating, and deploying space systems

  • Experience creating integration & test and design verification test plans and procedures

  • Experience performing system verification and validation

  • Working knowledge of one of more of the following specialty areas related to EOIR/RF systems: sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, and associated lab equipment

  • Experience in Python, MATLAB, or other similar programming languages

  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset

  • Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment

  • Experience with interfacing with client and presenting technical data to the client

  • Experience with coordinating with multiple IPTs

  • Experience with investigating complex technical issues

  • Active or Current Top Secret Clearance is required to be considered

  • Must have the ability to obtain SCI level access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Robot Framework, or other test automation frameworks

  • Experience with real-time signal processing

  • Working knowledge of DOORS

  • Familiar with orbital mechanics, dynamics and controls, rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), orbit determination, and attitude planning

  • Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering experience, especially in Cameo

  • Agile development experience a plus

  • Ability and willingness to travel

  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI & polygraph is preferred


Salary Range: $153,600 USD - $230,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
