Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) engineers and principal engineers for Modeling & Simulation at our Rolling Meadows / Arlington Heights, IL location.  The selected candidates will report to the SEIT Department in the Multi-Spectral Solutions Department.

In Modeling & Simulation, you will develop, integrate, test and analyze complex virtual representations of systems and environments.  Responsibilities for a Modeling & Simulation Engineer may include development of simulation code and scripts, design of system models, documentation of model assumptions and performance, test automation, test reports, and execution of integration test activities in virtual environments and/or System Integration Labs (SILs) or offsite locations.

As a part of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) team, a modeling & simulation engineer gains an understanding of the Systems Engineering process across a product's lifecycle and gains a full appreciation for how the systems are designed and operate virtually and physically. Your key responsibilities will be to ensure that the models and simulations we make are representative of their physical counterparts and work.   You’ll be able to apply your knowledge and experience in EOIR systems, optics, RF systems, algorithms, detection and tracking.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical degree with 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset
  • Working knowledge of model based systems engineering concepts and practices
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, C, C++, Java, Python, or other scripting languages
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Must have ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance prior to start date. Once started, must have the ability to obtain full secret clearance and SAP clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of one of more of the following specialty areas for design, integration and test related to EOIR systems, optics, RF systems, algorithms, detection and tracking
  • Experience in an abstract modeling environment (Rhapsody, Cameo, UML etc) for complex electronic systems evaluation
  • Experience with virtual environments or mission modeling (AFSIM, ATCOM, ONESAF)
  • Working knowledge of DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest
  • Experience performing system verification and validation
  • Electronic Warfare experience
  • Experience in development and earned value management of cost accounts and schedules as related to Systems Engineering tasks
  • Agile development experience a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a SAP (Special Access Program) clearance

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer : 


 • BS degree in STEM field with 5+ years related experience or MS degree in STEM field with 3+ years of related experience• Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset• Knowledge of model based systems engineering concepts and practices• Knowledge of MATLAB, C, C++, Java, Python, or other scripting languages
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
• Experience in an integration and test environment for complex electronic systems
• Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer : 
 
• Experience with real-time signal processing in both firmware and software. Agile experience a plus.
• Knowledge of MATLAB, C, C++, CUDA, VHDL, OpenCL, SysML, Python, or other scripting languages
• Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and tools (Cameo and Rhapsody)
• Working knowledge of DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest
• Recent experience creating integration and test, design verification test and flight test plans and procedures
• Experience in an integration and test environment for complex electronic systems evaluation
• Experience in development and earned value management of cost accounts and schedules as related to Systems Engineering tasks
• Working knowledge of one of more of the following specialty areas for integration and test related to Targeting, EOIR/RF systems: sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, detection and tracking
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Active Top Secret Clearance is preferred.

Salary Range: $81,000 USD - $121,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $99,800 USD - $124,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
