The Northrop Grumman’s Naval & Oceanic Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Team is seeking Systems Engineers looking to expand their horizons. This position will be based out of Annapolis, MD. In this position, you will support complex, dynamic maritime programs of strategic importance to our nation. This opportunity will allow you to contribute to the development of state-of-the-art oceanic systems, providing exposure to a wide range of advanced systems and technologies, including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), acoustic and non-acoustic sensors, sensor processing, navigation, platform integration, communication technologies, advanced algorithms, and more.

In this position you will perform functions such as the following:

  • Work within multi-disciplined teams, performing in one or more of the following functions: mission engineering, requirements development & management (using DOORS), system modeling including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), interface development & management, concept of operations (CONOPS) development & management, trade studies / analysis of alternatives, integration & test, and verification & validation.
  • Develop systems engineering work products associated with the functions above.
  • Prepare and brief technical packages to company leadership and customers.
  • Support project and program processes, reviews, and technical planning activities.
  • Develop content and present during milestone reviews including Systems Requirement Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (TRR), Consent to Ship Review (CSR)

Though not required, experience with Navy customers and underwater/naval systems such as torpedoes, towed vehicles, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), SONAR/sensor systems, underwater mechanical structures and cabling, submarine payloads, etc. is desired. Experience in anti-submarine warfare, seabed warfare, and Navy tactics would also be desirable.  Multiple positions are available; assignments will be made based on the candidate’s qualifications.

This is a multi-level requisition; offers will be made at the level to which a candidate satisfies the below qualifications, as well as the Northrop Grumman

Job Leveling Criteria.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field and 5+ years of experience; 3+ years of experience with Master's Degree, or 0+ years of experience with a PhD. 
  • Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering processes, including (but not limited to) requirements development & management, system modeling, system architecture development, interface traceability, integration & test, and verification & validation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to learn additional discipline areas.
  • Must have US Citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field and 9+ years of experience; 7+ years of experience with Master's Degree, or 4+ years of experience with a PhD. 
  • Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering processes, including (but not limited to) requirements development & management, system modeling, system architecture development, interface traceability, integration & test, and verification & validation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to learn additional discipline areas.
  • Must have US Citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical/Systems/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering/Applied Mathematics or Physics. A Masters or Doctorate degree is desired.
  • Broad experience with systems engineering applied throughout the systems “Vee” lifecycle model.
  • Proficiency in requirements management and tools such as IBM DOORS.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks/modeling languages (e.g., SysML, UML, DoDAF, UPDM and/or UAF).
  • Proficiency in Model-Based tools (e.g. Rhapsody, Cameo, ModelCenter, SIEMENS Teamcenter)
  • Experience with configuration management / version control.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities to include mentorship and working/interfacing with customers.
  • Experience leading teams of systems engineers (e.g. as SEIT Lead)
  • Experience preparing work products associated with the System Engineering milestones (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
  • Experience in naval warfare domains such as Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Anti-Surface Warfare (ASUW), Mine-Warfare (MIW), Cyber Warfare, and/or other.
  • Industry/company recognition and awards, attendance and participation in industry/engineering conferences and symposiums, and/or patents/disclosures/publications.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance with CI poly preferred.

Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
