The Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) Department at Northrop Grumman Naval & Oceanic Systems located in Annapolis, MD is seeking a systems engineer to focus on requirements management.  The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to deliver complex mechanical, electrical, and/or optical systems for use in the subsea / maritime environment.  Requirements management is a critical skillset that interfaces with all disciplines across the product life cycle. 

In this position you will perform functions such as the following:

  • Define system level requirements and establish traceability to customer documents
  • Derive and allocate requirements to subsystems (performing or coordinating analyses as required) to support hardware, software, and interface specifications
  • Adhere to/improve change request processes including impact analysis
  • Influence the design process through interaction with design teams
  • Perform requirement verification planning and tracking
  • Review Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to verify system compliance
  • Work with technical leadership to define and document internal and external interfaces
  • Generate systems engineering data products to support system development and qualification

Basic Qualifications for Principal level:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Familiarity with DOORS™, or similar requirements management tool or processes
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team
  • A current DoD Secret Clearance and willingness to obtain an SSBI/SCI with CI polygraph.

Basic Qualifications for Sr.  Principal level:

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
  • Familiarity with DOORS™, or similar requirements management tool or processes
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team
  • A current DoD Secret Clearance and willingness to obtain an SSBI/SCI with CI polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications for all level:

  • Demonstrated experience in requirements management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in DOORS, especially DOORS administration functions and/or DXL
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MBSE using CAMEO or other descriptive modeling tool
  • Experience with development, design and/or operation and maintenance of naval and undersea systems
  • A current DOD Top Secret/SSBI/SCI clearance and CI Polygraph


Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $140,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $170,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
