We are looking for you to join our team as an Electrical Engineer based out of Annapolis, MD. As an Electrical Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll Get to Do:

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join a dedicated, highly engaged hardware engineering team.  You will have the opportunity to support a variety of unique electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems designed for maritime applications.  We are specifically looking for candidates that have experience with electric motors and/or marine propulsion systems.

Experience in the following disciplines is required:

  • Electric Motors and Motor Controllers
  • Battery and energy storage, as it relates to powering electric motors
  • Motor control and telemetry, along with associated system communications
  • Connectors & Cabling
  • Electrical/electronic modeling utilizing MATLAB/Simulink, or related software

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Power and propulsion system modeling and integration
  • Developing robust specifications for vendors, as well as overseeing vendors
  • Generating formal engineering documentation (drawings, procedures, etc.)
  • Hands-on integration, testing and troubleshooting
  • Able to apply extensive technical expertise, yet have knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 9 years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience, or 4 years with a PhD in a related field.
  • Experience with electric motors and motor controllers
  • Experience with batteries and/or energy storage systems
  • Experience in electrical/electronic modeling utilizing MATLAB/Simulink, or related software
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with marine propulsion systems
  • Technical writing skills, to include procedures and technical manuals
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and layout
  • Experience designing, integrating and testing power conditioning and battery circuits
  • Strong familiarity with underwater systems, including cabling and connector interfaces
  • Professional background on systems deployed on Naval platforms
  • Active or Current DoD Secret security clearance


Salary Range: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
