As an integral part of our Mission Modeling, Simulation & Analysis team in Mission Systems Engineering you will be responsible for development, implementing, and understanding modeling and simulation needs as a function of the systems engineering and mission engineering processes across the air, space, land, sea, and cyberspace domains.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • System concept development

  • Elicitation and specification of functional requirements, and decomposition and traceability of those requirements

  • Mentor and direct junior staff efforts to meet program deadlines

  • Performance analysis and specification

  • Architecture Trade Studies

  • Synthesize and extend architectures

  • Allocate functionality to components

  • Definition of interfaces, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)

  • Detailed Design Analysis; May also involve test design

  • Use modern model-based systems engineering approaches that make extensive use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) skills; integrate M&S analysis models with descriptive models

  • Determine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goals

  • Communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical fields.

  • U.S Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Academic or on the job demonstration of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and relative methodologies

  • Working knowledge and frequency use with Cameo Enterprise Architecture / Magic Draw 

  • Capable of mentoring technical professionals and/or advising programs on the use of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • General understanding of Requirements elicitation and generation.

  • General understanding of Architecture, Interface Definition, and Design.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in engineering, science, software, or business administration

  • Active DoD Secret, Top Secret Clearance with SCI

  • Capable of standing up a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment

  • Domain knowledge in RF sensors

  • Experience with DOORS and requirements/architecture linking

  • Experience with physics-based model or simulation development

  • Experience with Multidisciplinary Design Analysis Optimization (MDAO)

  • Experience working in an agile development environment

  • Experience with version control using e.g. Teamwork Cloud, SVN, GitHub

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
