The Payload and Ground Systems Division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is a strategic partner specializing in delivering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions for classified and unclassified missions in space.  Headquartered in Linthicum, Maryland, PGS RSP has offices, manufacturing, and world-class assembly, integration, and test facilities.  We do it all here, on-site, from sensors to payloads to full up spacecraft, supporting Class A to Class D missions.  Our key capabilities include Active RF, Passive RF, and Electro-Optical payloads, space solar power, cross domain missions, and space resilience payloads & solutions.

 

This position is for a Principal/ Sr Principal Systems Engineer to join our Remote Sensing Programs, Systems Engineering Integration and Test (RSP SEIT) team.  As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to support efforts on both concept and product development to deliver key solutions to our customers.  We cover a wide variety of expertise within the systems engineering domain, including CONOPS development, mission engineering, requirements development and management, architecture, modeling and simulation, integration and test, verification and validation, and on-orbit operations and support.

 

This position will be responsible for:

Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) planning

  • Development and updates to test documentation, i.e., test plans, procedures and configuration management of test results

  • Procurement and verification of required testing items

  • Interface with various facets of the Ammolite team, including, but not limited to Electrical & Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE/MGSE), Environmental, Thermal Vacuum, Maximum Power and Vibration Testing for Space

  • Status any remaining procured and/or manufactured parts

 

Some initial work will be unclassified while waiting on a security clearance if not already active, but a TS/SCI clearance will be needed to continue and perform all duties for this position.

This requisition can be filled at either a Principal or Sr Principal Level based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Engineer: Bachelor's in Electrical, Computer, Systems or other STEM related degrees + 5 years of exp; Master's + 3 years of exp; PhD + 0 years of exp

  • Sr Principal Engineer: Bachelor's in Electrical, Computer, Systems or other STEM related degrees + 9 years of exp; Master's + 7 years of exp; PhD + 4 years of exp

  • Active DoD TS clearance with ability to obtain an SCI.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Space experience

  • Sensor/payload experience, especially with RADAR or RF Systems

  • Experience in EMI/EMC activities

  • Integration and Test for RADAR or RF Systems and/or Space Payloads

  • Atlassian Tool Suite:  Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence


Salary Range: $99,800 USD - $149,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
