Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) located in Baltimore, MD is seeking a leader that will report to the Test Design & Strategy Section Manager of the Hardware Synergy Department.  This is a dual role as an individual contributor (80%) and a manager of a group technical professionals (20%).  As a Functional Manager, activities include performance management, employee engagement, career development, staffing, merit planning, and personnel issue resolution for a group of Test Design Architects.  The group’s responsibilities include technical support to multi-discipline engineering teams during the proposal, design and manufacture of test systems.  This will be done by working with programs and management in creating test roadmaps for programs and serve as the technical guide for the test design team through the execution of the effort.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, system engineering or related technical degree with at least 9 years of related experience, or 7 years of related experience with a Master's.
  • Prior experience leading and performing engineering test of deliverable products
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with a proven track record of leading projects to completion on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Strong understanding of the Design, Manufacturing and Test Integration process
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and strong organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented
  • Proactive with a sense of urgency
  • Experience working on Department of Defense contracts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret (or higher) clearance

Preferred qualification:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, system engineering or related technical degree with at least 7 years of related experience
  • Prior experience negotiating with customers to convert customer needs into testable requirements
  • Experience as Technical lead or other demonstrated leadership role to a program office
  • Demonstrated success in understanding or creating test plans that prove the product satisfies requirements
  • Previous functional management experience
  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance

Salary Range: $141,100 USD - $211,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
