As an integral part of our Mission Systems Engineering team you will work with RF/radar systems experts and technologists with an intellectual curiosity to integrate new ideas and concepts into some of our military’s most challenging problems. You will provide our Maritime/Land Systems and Sensors (M/LSS) division with technical leadership in the development of strategic technologies, concept of operations, mission system architectures and technology development roadmaps in support of M/LSS customer capability needs. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Work across NGMS Divisions and NGC Sectors to develop, coordinate, and assess Joint Force, Navy and/or USMC CONOPS that incorporate discriminating RF capabilities

  • M/LSS Spectrum Dominance Integrated Strategy Team technical leader with a focus on multi domain RF capabilities

  • Lead the development of Technology Roadmaps that support the Spectrum Dominance IST

  • Stakeholder in the AOP and LRSP process, driving alignment of division, BU and OU Independent Research and Development (IR&D) investment and Contract Research and Development (CR&D) pursuit

  • Lead the development of systems-of-systems architectures for capabilities that support DoD strategic objectives (JADC2, etc.) and M/LSS business goals

  • Foster and maintain external customer relationships in industry, academia, and the customer community (e.g., Universities, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), and Warfare Centers)

  • Apply creativity and vision for the future that require synthesis of related disciplines and technologies

  • Provide teams with internal and external knowledge of the technical advancements in industry and how it impacts the company

  • Work within the M/LSS Division, and BUs, and coordinating with the Emerging Capabilities Division (as appropriate), provide support for capture activities Contract Research & Development (CR&D) and production programs) to include:

    • Concept development

    • Customer shaping

    • Bid and Proposals

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with 20 + years of experience, a Master’s degree with 18 + years of experience or a PhD with 15 + years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical fields.

  • U.S. Citizenship and active secret DoD clearance with the ability to obtain or maintain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance required

  • Experience with design, development, fielding and/or operation of radar systems and sensors

  • Demonstrated performance in developing customer relationships, shaping capture opportunities, and successfully capturing the resulting opportunities

  • Experience successfully coordinating technology and capability development from R&D to a production organization

  • Experience in RF system prototyping and demonstrations

  • Travel about 25% as needed to support customer engagements and division requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret or higher DoD Clearance

  • Demonstrated experience with the development and/or employment of military radar systems

  • Deep understanding of USMC Ground Based Radars and/or Naval Maritime Radars and their mission CONOPS

  • Experience with USG research and development laboratories/organizations such as DARPA, AFRL, Army Futures Command, Marine Corp Operational Development Command, IARPA, etc..

  • Strong network of S&T leaders and practitioners in the Department of Defense

  • Experience developing and/or evaluating DoD requirements as a service member or USG employee

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $189,400 USD - $284,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
