At Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS), our Airborne Multifunction Sensors department of Field Engineering is seeking an experienced M2 Systems Engineering Manager to join our team located in Linthicum MD.

What you’ll get to do:

This position is responsible for leading and developing a diverse technical team, of 15-20 Electrical and Systems Engineering personnel that are located at the NGMS facility in Linthicum, MD and at several customer field locations. This position requires the manager to establish and maintain effective technical management oversight of a geographically diverse team, to collaboration with other technical disciplines and to interact effectively with both internal and external customers. This is a dual role management position with approximately 80% of the role in direct technical and programmatic activities as well as 20% functional Field Engineering leadership activities. Field Engineering Functional responsibilities include providing leadership and direction on activities in accordance with organization goals, facilitate team meetings, analyze problems, plan and direct tasks, and provide solutions to ensure proper use of resources and assets.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, career guidance and goal setting to highly technical team.
  • Execute the performance management cycle.
  • Manage recruiting and retention efforts.
  • Oversee staffing, workload planning/forecasting and time charge approval.
  • Reward and foster culture for employees to learn and grow and support employee inclusion and engagement.
  • Policy dissemination.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage engineering timeline to support customer operations schedule.
  • Collaborate with managers of other engineering disciplines, program managers and the NGC Global Mobility Office.
  • Commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Champion change and innovative thinking within the organization to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, software, or science or similar STEM degree and a minimum of 10 years related experience 8 years’ experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated success leading and managing a highly technical team to achieve sustainable top performance as a IPT Lead or similar demonstrated technical leadership or management roles.
  • Experience in managing programs/projects to cost and schedule requirements.
  • Prior experience with the operations, logistics, testing, and maintenance of advanced radar and communication systems.
  • Good communication skills with individual contributors, the management chain, and customer personnel
  • U.S. citizenship and a current active DoD Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and special Program clearances is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Prior experience as a part of Field Engineering type operation leading a geographically diverse team.
  • Prior integration and test, flight test or operations and maintenance support experience with airborne sensor systems
  • New Business Proposal development experience
  • Cost Account Management experience


Salary Range: $141,100 USD - $211,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
