The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Advanced Processing Solutions pushes the boundaries of innovation.  It redefines the leading edge of exotic new technologies and drives advancements in the sciences.  One of our most challenging fields of development and user support is in Secure Processing.  You will be part of a team alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers working to make these processing solutions a reality.

The candidate will assist in architecting custom secure ASICs and associated software and tools, interacting with users and supporting integration activities, developing roadmaps for improved user experience, and driving common board level solutions into the defense industrial base.  This role will interact directly with customers (internal and external) in the creation, capture, and execution of programs to create and field secure embedded processing solutions for both US and export weapon systems. Candidate travel will be required when necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing requirements and architectures for secure processing solutions targeting next generation weapon systems
  • Guiding research activities to develop technologies required for future secure embedded processing solutions
  • Working with Systems Engineering and Digital Design teams to ensure that the architecture meets requirements and is implemented correctly.
  • Interacting with customers, both internal and external, to convey architecture principles and concepts.
  • Efficient and effective communication of design and architecture to hardware and software design engineers.

This position requires the candidate to report on-site in Linthicum, MD and/or Beaver Creek, OH.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technology field with 20 plus years of relevant experience; Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other relevant technology field with 18 plus years of related experience years with an MS; 15 plus years of relevant experience with a PhD).
  • Significant knowledge of COTS security technologies and trusted products
  • Extensive secure processing technology background
  • Broad experience with secure embedded DoD processing systems and their use cases
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in hardware and software aspects of secure processing
  • Extensive experience interpreting complex data and performing trade-off analysis.
  • Experience directing teams of design engineers.
  • A PhD in a related field is highly desirable.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

This position reports to Linthicum, MD, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Beavercreek, OH, OH, USA.


Salary Range: $189,400 USD - $284,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
