Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Senior Principal ASIC Design Engineer to join our team of highly qualified, diverse individuals. Successful candidates will have a thorough understanding of digital design concepts and have prior experience with ASIC development process. Must be highly proficient in RTL coding using VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog along with synthesis and static timing analysis.

This candidate will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the different teams as required to accomplish the goals.

This position will be in Linthicum, MD.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience (7+ years with MS, 4+ years with PhD)
  • An additional 5 years of experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in full product life cycle of ASIC Design
  • Experience with Cadence and/or Synopsys tools for synthesis, LEC and STA
  • Experience running synthesis and STA for advanced processing nodes of 14 nm or lower
  • Experience with multi-mode, multi-corner analysis including multiple functional and test modes
  • Experience writing complex timing constraints for synthesis, P&R and STA
  • Experience with large, high-frequency, multi-voltage, multi-clock SOCs that integrate hard and soft IP
  • Experience generating and analyzing timing reports and working with back-end designers to achieve timing closure
  • Proficiency in HDL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Tcl, Python or Perl
  • Knowledge of DFT, scan insertion and ATPG is a plus
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Effective communication and presentation skills and high proficiency in technical problem solving

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher


Salary Range: $136,300 USD - $204,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
