Northrop Grumman IT Solutions team is seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be remote supporting the BWI MD facility with possibility of occasional travel to site.  The position will be supporting the Mission Connectivity project implementing the future connected factory at Northrop Grumman.   

As a Systems Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for evaluating systems to be connected to our manufacturing network, working with manufacturing process owners to identify priority data to be extracted, determining equipment interface capabilities, working with vendors as required to enable access to data, and generating and validating software requirements and specifications for developers to consume. 

The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal, communications and leadership skills and must be able to clearly articulate and document analysis results to colleagues, management, and customers. This candidate must integrate easily into a close-knit agile team environment.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Determine high level business requirements in conjunction with customer and manage requirements throughout the lifecycle
• Ensure architecture and design alignment with standards & strategic direction
• Support the development of feasibility and ROM estimates
• Create scope, technical requirements, architecture & design documents
• Establish test plans, requirements traceability & transition to production artifacts
• Perform as technical lead in providing solution alternatives for Trade Studies

• Ensure system validation is performed against requirements
• Architecture definition, interface and context diagram documentation
• Virtual Desktop & Server Design implementation, including licensing requirements
• Network Implementation Documentation
• Application Integration design & architecture
• Review Disaster and Recovery requirements and implementation

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

• Requires 5 years with Bachelors in Science; 3 years with Masters

• Familiarity with IT SDLC processes as well as with Agile-SCRUM

• Knowledge of software development concepts and patterns
• Broad knowledge of two or more of the following technical domains: software, IT infrastructure, network, security, manufacturing, industrial engineering
• Strong leadership and team building skills; excellent written and oral communications skills, drawing, modeling and communicating systems engineering
• Must be able to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts; expected to contribute to the development of new principles and concepts
• Candidates must have ability to provide total system perspective including a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of hardware and software components for a project
• Qualified candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing environment

• Must have experience with technical drawings and requirements definition
• Ability for rare/occasional travel

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
 

• Experience in Manufacturing industry

• Experience as a Software Developer
• Technical Experience with Northrop Grumman Manufacturing Execution Systems, Engineering Solutions, Product Line Engineering, TeamCenter Enterprise, Extranet Solutions, or Collaboration Solutions
• INCOSE or other System Engineering technical certifications

Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
