Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Iuka, MS where technology and teamwork come together. 

***This position does not have the option to work remote and requires the chosen candidate to work on-site in Iuka, MS.***

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating technical assignments across multiple programs including development projects supporting manufacturing needs (hand layup, fiber placement, assembly, machining, painting, etc.) and structural testing of composite parts. You will be a part of a team that currently produces structures for Atlas, Antares, F-35 and other high end related parts. The work we do impacts our national security. Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical leadership of engineering staff
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyzes total system product including: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Manage risk tracking and trade studies
  • Track department schedules, working to identify key parameters and metrics to increase efficiency and reduce program costs
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Supports staff with the appropriate resources to solve problems
  • Proposal preparation
  • Serves as technical lead on the Material Review Board (MRB)

This position is for a day shift (Monday to Friday), and may require off hour support. Travel is estimated to be less than 10% and within the US, typically to support our customers.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field with 14 Years of professional and/or military experience that includes a background in engineering, systems integration, or related field. Master's Degree in STEM with 12 Years of professional and/or military experience that includes a background in engineering, systems integration, or related field. PhD with 9 Years of professional and/or military experience that includes a background in engineering, systems integration, or related field
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance, including Special Access Program within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Experience in presenting technical analysis and manufacturing capability in customer design reviews
  • Experience with leadership across complex cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD security clearance
  • Experience in composite manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma (Black Belt)
  • Root cause / corrective action processes and techniques
  • Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Experience with Electrical, Hydraulic and Fuel environments

Salary Range: $131,700 USD - $197,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
