As an integral part of our Mission Systems Engineering we are looking for a Systems Engineering Manager to support the Airborne Sensors and Networks Division based out of Bethpage, NY. The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong management skills and will have a track record as a motivated leader, an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Apply technical planning, modeling and simulation, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Provide functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Manage recruiting, retention, training, career guidance, goal setting, performance evaluations, compensation evaluations, coordination, policy dissemination, employee inclusion and engagement

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 9 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience, a PhD with 4 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related technical fields
  • U.S. Citizenship and active secret DoD clearance with the ability to obtain or maintain a Top Secret Clearance required.
  • Experience with managing across geographically dispersed teams
  • 4 years of experience with systems engineering
  • 2 years of experience with management of technical teams
  • Experience with mentoring technical professionals and/or advising programs
  • Experience with identifying, establishing, and maintaining customer relationships
  • 25% of travel is required as needed to support customer engagements and division requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher
  • Domain knowledge or experience with RADAR, Tracking, Electronic Warfare, Electronic Attack or Maritime systems
  • Strong foundation in Data Analysis and/or Algorithm Development
  • Experience in Model Based System Engineering

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
