Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector (NGMS) is a leading global provider of secure software-defined, hardware enabled mission systems.  Northrop Grumman’s Bethpage location has served as a vital location throughout the history of the company. Opening in 1936, it served as the main headquarters for the Grumman Corporation- the central location for projects such as the Lunar Module and the F-14 Tomcat.  Our employees have made significant historical contributions and are continuing to shape the future.  

The selected individual has the potential to support a few Bethpage-supported programs spanning the airborne, land and maritime domains.  Successful candidates must be able to commit to working on-site.  Travel will be required to Northrop Grumman, customer, and supplier facilities. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Develop, derive, verify, and validate requirements.  
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. 
  • Develop descriptive system models to include logical/physical/functional block diagrams at various abstraction layers to support Model-Based Engineering (MBE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts. 
  • Verify that supplier/vendor deliveries meet requirements. 
  • Participate in system integration and test. 
  • Collaborate with other members of the technical staff, program office, suppliers, and customers. 
  • Work independently and across multi-disciplined/multi-site teams to architect, model, simulate, and analyze systems to predict/verify system performance against functional/capability requirements. 
  • Be capable of understanding code in C++
  • Be capable of using MATLAB and data processing tools
  • Demonstrate a Systems Thinking mindset. 
  • Be capable of understanding a complex problem, developing an approach to solve it, and implementing that approach.  
  • Duties may extend to include one or more of: requirements development, developing system specifications derived from customer requirements, data analysis, algorithm development, system issue resolution, test derivation/validation, as well as design and modeling tasks. 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • This position can be filled at either a T1 Associate Engineer level, or a T2 Engineer level.  
  • Associate Engineer (0 years of engineering experience with a bachelor's degree)  
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical content to internal and/or external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel) 
  •   

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in an integration and test environment 
  • Experience performing system verification and validation 
  • Experience with physics-based model or simulation development 
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), tools, techniques, and concepts e.g., Cameo model development 
  • Experience with DOORS requirements decomposition, development, and management 
  • Experience with DoDAF & Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) standards and methods 
  • Experience with real time integrated computing systems
  • Proficiency with engineering programming languages (e.g., C/C++, MATLAB, Python) 
  • Proficiency with engineering computing environments and tools (e.g., Linux, MATLAB, & Wireshark)
  • Experience with electronic warfare systems 
  • Experience with radar systems, particularly: data analysis, requirements analysis, mode design and development and/or signal and data processing. 
  • Experience conducting data analysis and formulating conclusions 
  • Experience with Agile Development 
  • Active US Secret clearance or higher, and approval for Special Access Program (SAP) 
     

Salary Range for T1: 70,200 – 105,400

Salary Range for T2: 85,000 – 127,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
