The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill a Space Principal Systems Engineer or Senior Principal System Engineer SEIT role in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU). This position could be located in Morrisville, NC, Fairfax VA, or Aurora, CO.

They will have a proven, track record as an effective communicator and problem-solver who is able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external shareholders. In addition, they will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and will have the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. This candidate will demonstrate broad abilities that are balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. There will be opportunity to operate in a team environment and to collaborate across division business areas, as required, in order to accomplish team goals.

 

This requisition may be filled at the higher grade based on the qualifications listed below. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Systems Engineer : Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 3+ years, or PhD with 0+ years.

  • Senior Principal Systems Engineer: 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD

  • Active TS/SCI and willingness to sit for a poly

  • Experience with the Agile Methodology

  • Experience with Automated test tools (for example: Cucumber, Behave, Eggplant, Selenium, or Cypress)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies

  • Knowledge of or experience with scripting languages

  • Knowledge of or experience with microservice architecture

  • Experience performing cloud-based design, architecture, integration, and test of software systems using Amazon Web Services (AWS)

This position reports to Morrisville, NC, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $157,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,900 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
