We are seeking a cleared or clearable Principal Systems Engineer with a background in Electronic RF Hardware Design for a critical role as a key contributor and leader on hardware development teams. If you are always looking for the next problem to solve, this is the role for you. 

Essential Duties:

  • Drive the successful technical completion of projects.

  • Understand each project mission and architect the systems our teams are creating.

  • Be directly aware of and contribute to technical work while also ensuring the team is meeting requirements and documenting designs to demonstrate success.

  • Help guide our engineers from requirements through design and build, and finally through delivery and deployment.

  • Create novel solutions for challenging missions supporting our Nation as second to none!

Technology:

  • Projects range from RF hardware and SIGINT sensor systems to Electronic Warfare.

  • Most emphasize requirements for low size, weight, and power (SWAP) while functioning within extreme environments.

  • Novel RF waveforms

  • RF domains covering VHF through microwave frequencies

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, other relevant engineering, Science or related discipline with 5 years of engineering experience; or Master's with 3 years of engineering experience; or PhD with 0 years of engineering experience.

• This position requires significant experience in two or more of the following:

Systems Architecture of complex sensor or comms systems, circuit card to fully integrated systems

    ○ RF Performance Modeling and simulation 

    ○ Integrated circuit and electronics design of RF or sensor systems 

    ○ Experience in RF or sensors hardware design 

    ○ Requirements derivation & flow down

    ○ Team Leadership in a Development Environment

• US Citizenship and an active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

• Master’s / PhD in a relevant field

• Novel RF waveform design 

• RF domain experience covering VHF through microwave frequencies 

• Significant technical contribution in RF hardware (receivers and transmitters), DSP design, RF communication, signal collection, and/or EW programs 

• Experience in designing complex system architectures 

• Experience with the challenges in designing hardware systems to survive in harsh environments including terrestrial, airborne, and space 

• Experience in SWAP design challenges 

• Systems integration testing 

• Verification and Validation 

• Leading system and/or subsystem design with direct involvement 

This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. 


Salary Range: $95,000 USD - $142,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
